Androgynous waif-creature, slim but sturdy. Permagrump face with angles you could cut yourself on. The illusion of masculinity would be so complete if not for a few telltale traits - decidedly feminine hands, slightly wider hips than would be usual - but to most observers, the boy would appear to be just that.

Personality Outline:
Bold, headstrong, daring, quite the little spitfire really, but that's not to say obstreperous. Resistant to friendly advances but once you make it, Eli tends to be the fiercely loyal type. Tends to get himself in trouble completely by accident, but almost always manages to find his way out again.

Madeline was born in tower block of flats to a single mother, a French immigrant that spoke not a word of English and never bothered to right up to her death in Eli's 15th year. The tiny family lived in borderline poverty in a one bedroom flat, coping with the squalor and lack of space surprisingly well. Eli learned to speak French from her mother, making her first day of muggle primary school a horribly alienating experience, but luckily she managed to get a basic grasp on the English language as time went on and eventually became fluent.
Madeline was quite the little tomboy during school, participating in scraps and brawls even from a young age, and what a boxer she was! While having picked up more than her fair share of scar tissue along the way, it was a rarity for her to lose a spar, even rarer for her to stay down once bested. She became a fiery little thing.
Her letter at age 11 took her completely by surprise. Her mother had never mentioned the magical world to her before, but now admitted that the letter was not a hoax - the school was real, and she would be attending. She also told her that her father had been a Quidditch player - one of the best in Britain, she said - and would've been national team material if he'd only had the ambition. She never revealed anything else about Madeline's paternity for the rest of her life.
At age 15, she woke up one day and simply announced that everyone was to refer to her as Eli, and that she had always been a boy and should now be addressed as such. Her mother, with bigger and more pressing matters on her mind, allowed this transition without much resistance.
Later in the year, Eli attempted a little self surgery. Having become a little more confident in his transfiguration, he endeavoured to rid himself of his breasts. Unfortunately, his wandwork wasn't quite as refined as he'd assumed, and while he did create a more masculine body, he managed to remove a little more skin than intended. A stint in hospital later and most of the damage was reduced to little more than pale scarring.
At age 16, Eli lost sight in one eye during a duel. Who knows what this year will bring him?
