Character Description:
Tall, with an average build, his appearance is typical of one from the Southern region of Ireland. Fergus' eyes are an unusual shade of green, which one can describe as swampy. His hair is a fiery color, and, usually, several fringes hang into his face. Not extremely muscular, but not out of shape either, he'll usually forsake a game of Quidditch to read a good novel.
Personality Outline:
Sixteen years old, and already, he's the king of his own world. Fergus always wants the biggest and the best. He needs to be the best at whatever he does. Whether it be his studies, or relationships, he's always competing to be the 'big man on campus.' How does he manage it? Well, he cheats. Of course, the boy's got his handful of friends, but his housemates -- His fellow Ravenclaws -- are nothing more than bait in his little game of life. As it's been said a few times, the sorting hat must have been confuded. Merlin knows what filth they put in that hat these days. In all actuality, through his clever, cold, sly exterior, there's a heart of gold. Whether Fergus shows it or not, is a different story. You could be his best friend, and know nothing at all about him. Only time will tell the truth.
Though, it's rarely shown, Fergus is extremely unsure of himself. He makes up for all of his insecurities by preying on those smaller, weaker, and more emotionally fragile than he is - ie; being a bully. The beginnings of all great dark wizards. No one said Fergus was a good boy. On more than one occasion, Fergus has threatened the students around him. Flying cupcakes, or vicious hexes, it was all about the person. A very biased creature of habit.
Background
Mother:
Jenna McCullaugh-O'Connor, early 40s, housewife.
Father:
Liam O'Connor, Mid-40s, Candle Dipper.
Siblings:
Kathryn (F), 10
Kelly (M), 19
Jaquelyn (F), 21
Brendan (M), 21
Country of Origin: County Cork, Ireland
Heritage: Half-blooded.
History:
Born to Jenna McCullaugh and Liam O'Connor in early June, Fergus was the third son and fourth child to the happily married couple, living in rural Ireland. However he wasn't the youngest. The O'Connor family had adopted two young boys, both muggle-borns, when Ferg was two; and the entire family felt mighty protective of the younger boys than their youngest son. Which, as came to pass, was just as well for Fergus was having none of the coddling his mother seemed to divy out to his two younger siblings.
He grew up wild and mean and often could be tracked down by just following the sounds of raunchous laughter or hearty screams. Neither of which were ever a good or bad sign. . .most the time it was a mixture of the two and usually meant mischief. Especially if the farmers were to be believed. But it wasn't necessarily his fault; his sisters were twice as bad and his brothers only encouraged him to be just the same. They were a rowdy bunch but never let it be said that they were ever the cause of any real harm. Just a bunch of little brats that liked mixing trouble with their fun.
However, as he grew older, Fergus settled down and stayed around their own plot more often than not; to help his father and brothers work the fields and tend the animals. Along with the daily chores, he and his siblings were getting the basics tutoring in household magic. The younger ones weren't old enough for wands just yet but the ones that did have them had were not allowed to use them but for the most remedial of tasks. Which suited Fergus like a bull to a china shop. He loathed getting dirt under his nails compared to using spells to pull up the weeds.
Soon came the letters from Hogwarts, then it was off to Diagon Alley for supplies, then robes, books, and lastly a familiar for those that expressed a desire for one and had saved their allowances. And before anyone could blink it was time to meet the train and kiss their parents goodbye: Life at Hogwarts had begun.
