Character Description:
Indy is small and daintily thin, with the pale skin of a bookworm. Her movements are jerky and unpredictable, much like her patronus, a raccoon. She knows that her inquisitive nature can get her into a lot of trouble and is self-conscious of asking too many questions. Indy likes to keep her short, oily hair in a pixie-bob simply because it is so easy maintain (or not). She has a small, rounded face that can be seen as childish. Her lips are small and thin, perhaps even a little petulant. Her nose is small, pointed, and slightly upturned. Beyond that, she cares little for being fashion forward, nor for the people that think her odd because of it.
Her clothing style is eccentric, even for wizards. She often wears knee-high socks with various eclectic designs- sometimes musical notes that actually move and float around the circumference of her leg, then another day she'll be wearing bright purple socks with green ferrets wearing sombreros. Her dramatic eye-makeup is sometimes accessorized with bright purple lipstick and lavender eyeshadow.
Personality Outline:
A curious woman with a sharp wit and a tongue that sometimes gets ahead of her brain. She prefers to keep herself near nature and/or in the company of fellow "knowledge enthusiasts", as she calls herself, but also enjoys experiencing new things. As her parents did not reveal her wizard blood until days before her tenth birthday, she is still learning things about every-day wizarding life and takes every chance she gets to learn more of the culture of the magical world.
As odd and quickly-thrown-together as her wardrobe is, Indigo is a perfectionist regarding her own work. Occasionally these leaks into her expectations of her students, so he can be seen as a bit of a hard-ass.

History:
Indigo lived most of her childhood as Amelia Scarborough, the awkward little girl with bony, gangly limbs and a high, squeaky voice. She never was all that popular, but the few friends she managed to find were very close. Still, more often then not she would forgo a sleepover invite to spend the weekend playing with her father's petting zoo animals.
It was a happy enough childhood. Despite being bullied, as many children are, she thought herself rather lucky to be able to be around the things she loved.
When her parents told her about magic after she accidentally turned her hair into noodles and then back again, Amelia was elated; she always knew she was different than the other kids at school. But now she knew why! Soon enough her Hogwarts letter came, and off she went to learn more about this mysterious world she now lived in. She decided to go by her middle name, Indigo, from then on. It was her great-grandmother's name, after all.
The first year was a hard transition for her, not the least of which because of how the other magical children treated her for being clueless to what they thought were things that were common knowledge, things that even an idiot would know. Of course, it was also hard being away from Mr. Tibbles and her parents, as well as that safe little square of grassy garden she had frequently escaped to when she was upset.
Soon, though, Indigo found hidden little crevices and secret corners of the school that she could wile away the hours with and began to grow content with her lot in life.
Her concentration on her schoolwork and good behavior earned her a position as a Prefect of her house, which she gladly accepted as she thought it would be a wonderful chance to help the younger children who were like her (that is, eccentric, odd, or just unpopular) to better appreciate themselves and those around them.
Her last year at Hogwarts was spent mainly studying for her OWLs and pouring over books on Transfiguration and Animagi in preparation for ehr adult life.
After graduation, she spent several years studying under a talented, retired Transfiguration teacher and finally applied for a position at Hogwarts.
