Name: Evelyn Moore
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Play-by: Brittany Murphy
Eve
Desired Position/Job: Astronomy Professor
Race: Caucasian
Weight/Height: Evelyn is 5'2 and weights 130 pounds.
Pet: A spotted toad called "Orion", who is almost constantly chirping.
Magic:
Eve, as a muggleborn, did not have the advantages her peers had as a student. She did not come from a Wizarding family and saw it a priveledge to attempt a life at Witchcraft. She wasn't a very talented Witch, however. And of course, some muggle borns are quite talented. Eve was not. She failed at everything with the exception of Divination and Charms. But if she had one magical talent, it was for turning one thing into another. Eve could transfigure anything into absoloutely anything else.
Wand Type: Kaya wood, Mooncalf Horn. 9 1/2"
Patronus: A Nightingale.
Former Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Likes:
- Gazing at the heavens from the Astronomy Tower. (All hours of
the night.)
- Muggle artefacts.
- Chess
- Arithrimancy
Dislikes:
- Mornings
- Disrespect
- Cheating (Any student caught copying the Constellations tracked by another student will receive detention. No questions.)
Strengths:
- Attention to Details
- Astronomy
- Transfiguration
- Watchdog (Eve could catch the students who were up to no good in a flash. Especially after hours.)
Weaknesses:
- Sleepyness/Mornings
- Smoking
- Anxiety
- Self-Esteem
Character Description:
The phantom of a young girl loomed behind the deep grooves of her features; etched in by many a sleepless night. Ebony hair fell to the shoulders of this exhausted Professor. She wore simple black robes with a silvery chain around the waist. Her chocolate eyes had heavy bags hanging under them, long neglected by the beloved Sandman. During her wakeful hours, she carried herself with a wary smirk. Everyone knew Moore came to life after twilight and was suddenly aware of bloody everything. After the sun had long sunken below the horizon, that was when Eve was in her element. No student could get past her then. She caught them at everything from snogging to gambling.
Personality:
Eve is quiet, to say the least, but she was incredably intelligent. Smart as a whip, this one. Very few details escaped her. She was often too sleepy to speak to any of her colleagues. You can probably see her at the staff table, now. Head propped up on her elbow, snoozing with her mouth wide open. Someone best close it before a bug flies in...
She often scowered the stars until five in the morning. Eve was the obsessive type, able to hold onto things, even charish them forever. She had a terribly compassionate heart and would make an attempt at assisting anyone with anything. She tended to ramble on, though, about some star she was chasing across the heavens. She would even get her students to go after it from time to time, awarding the student who could follow it correctly a copious amount of House points. It didn't matter which house, Evelyn was not prejudice. She cared only about constellations.
Siblings: (None)
Country of Origin: England
Heritage: Muggle-Born
Background:
Born to Mr. Mark Moore, a high school Chemisty teacher and Dr. Joanne Hastings, an Astronomy Graduate from one of the many Universities in North America. Saint Mary's was Eve's guess.
Eve had no connection to that place, though. She was raised in London as a normal non-magical child, save for her ability to float upward, well past the sturdyness of the roof at night. Her desire to see the stars overcame the forces of gravity, (all 9.81 m/s/s of it!) and in her smallest stages, memories of floating in the sky are held precious to her.
Eve had a difficult time at Hogwart's. During her uneventfull Seven Years at school, she had immersed herself in her work, escaping the taunting remarks of her classmates. They thought she was 'weird', but Evelyn didn't concern herself with them, learning all she could about the Wizarding World, where she knew she'd persue a career one day. All though she had sworn she'd never teach. here she was at Hogwarts!
Her mother always said, "If you're teaching Astronomy, you've given up on making a discovery on your own, and have decided hone another to do what you were meant to do." No wonder Eve snuck a muggle cigarette now and then, she was only twenty six and felt her impending failure.
Every summer, though, she resumed her Muggle practices. Reading papers about her star-chasing. Always on the verge of some great discovery but never quite reaching her goals. She constantly underestimated her abilities in the magical world. One of her greatest strengths at school was Transfiguration. The thing was, Eve was so down on herself at school she refused to believe she was good at any magic, even though her grades from her O.W.L.S to her N.E.W.T.S. had been more than passing grades!
