Character Description:
Locks, rich as flowing chocolate in a fountain, fall down across an elegant beauty. Taller than your average woman, her stance never succumbs to that of a man. Crystal as the seas, blue eyes capture every waking moment – never forgetting the past. History was a passion yet fulfilled; defending against the Dark Arts overcame her future. A woman of curves, Helen isn’t charmed easily but captivated instead by the intellect of one’s mind. Years of practicing medicine arose a yearning to cease any damage one may accrue. Teaching those the defenses necessary for protection would be the priority she had neglected for many years. It was now Magnus’ time to help the youth of the world; protection by means of defense was now crucial.
Personality/Beliefs Outline:
Magnus is as striking and enigmatic as she is devoted to her life of practical research in a variety of defenses. Her work is to explore the world of the practicers of the Dark Arts and the powerful defenses against those whom proclaim evil intentions. While the muggle world may be blind to the disasters caused by those involved in the Dark Arts, it goes without saying that they experience the backlash of their evil working. Magnus realized that it was up to the future witches and wizards, to uphold the balance between good and evil. A woman so straightforward, remains proud and true to her English sensibilities when in a difficult situation. Tedious with the words she speaks, her tone is often only heard when speaking to a group – or even a classroom. Finding those who would dare practice the Dark Arts brought on a no-nonsense woman, who vowed to show no mercy upon capture; bravery was a hard attribute but one she would work to achieving. After years of working as an eccentric and very unapologetic Auror, Magnus retired -- onto better things.
Background
Mother: Patricia Heathering – Deceased – Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures (Beast Division)
Father: Dr. Gregory Magnus – 76 – Physician/Researcher
Country of Origin: England
Heritage: Half-blood
History:
It had only been a few years since the wreckage of Voldemort, and the Dark Arts were brought to a staggering low. A sense of peace overcame the wizarding world, eventually leading a young witch into the arms of a brilliant young muggle. Gregory Magnus had been regarded as a controversial medical researcher of his time and Patricia Heathering was in need of his great many talents. With that one glance, the two had become inseparable. In just a short amount of time, the two had wed and would soon be expecting their first child.
On the dawn of a bright summer day, a young Helen Magnus was born. Her upbringing wouldn’t be that of a normal child, or even a normal witch. Being of English decent and origin, her family was rarely ever home – traveling was their special forte. Research had led the Magnus’ to exposing their daughter to a life of magical creatures and their preservation…and study. Helen became quite the fast learner and vowed to one day to attribute to the side of good. Before she knew it, she would find out that her destiny eventually led to Hogwarts. The time had come for the young lass to further her education, leaving her parents to carry on with their research, without her.
Always the witty little learner, it was only suiting that the Sorting Hat had placed young Helen in Ravenclaw House. Not only had her mother respectfully wore blue and bronze, but now her daughter would as well. Always one to push herself in achieving the best grades, Magnus had been one of the top students to attend Hogwarts. Brilliant as she was, her individuality might have been her only downfall. Making so very few friends, those who were of her elite respected her with great fervor. The years passed on quickly and soon; Helen found herself leaving the castle as quickly as she had entered it.
Upon graduation from Hogwarts, Magnus chose the path of both of her parents, in a sense. She attended Oxford University, where she attained a degree in teratology. From the moment she became a doctor of sciences, her knowledge and experience would be needed by the Ministry of Magic. Working for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, Helen's mother was one of their best -- until the fateful day. Searching for the Quintaped had evidentially led Helen's mother to Northern Scotland, and to her death. From that day on, Gregory had never been the same; he left Magnus to travel the world, or so he said.
Throughout the years, Magnus had only found one true love -- her work. The years she spent assisting the muggle world had drawn her to pursue another field, within the wizarding world. It was then that Helen chose the path of an Auror, allocating her to further protect both worlds whilst helping the Ministry put away dark witches and wizards. Respecting her independence and self-reliance, the Ministry had a great amount of use of how Helen handled her cases. Days turned into months, and months into years, yet Magnus never lost her passion for fighting the Dark Arts. Although she never started a family of her own, her research had become the child she had never had.
With her father off roaming the world and her mother gone, the days she spent working for the Ministry had yet reached an end. A peaceful life was what Helen sought out now, but she would only agree to serenity upon being accepted as a Professor – at Hogwarts. After some time, the moment the letter had met her eyes; Helen couldn’t resist jumping at the chance to teach younger minds. Leaving the Ministry had been a tough decision but teaching the next generation of witches and wizards the truth of defending themselves against the Dark Arts was important. There had been many a great professors to grace the halls of Hogwarts – Helen Magnus hoped to become one of them.
The majority of her life had been spent fighting against the dark arts. The many ventures she made in search of dark wizards, gave Helen a firsthand experience in practicing the lessons learned in her Defense Against The Dark Arts class. Many years had passed, yet her mind had only expanded with more out there that had yet to be discovered. Helen was blessed to have had such luck in surviving so many missions, leading her to respect those that fought before her. In that, it was now her turn to give back to others, hoping to install her knowledge on those wanting to learn.

Teaching Example:
As the time drew near, Helen approached the tower door which would lead her down the stairs – into a classroom full of ‘eager’ students. The young Ravenclaw’s and Slytherin’s poured into the classroom, separating their house on each side. Blue and bronze illuminated the east, silver and green boomed in the west, and the Professor knew she would have quite the stimulating class. Both houses were intelligent and displayed a great quality in learning quickly. Clapping her hands as steps forwarded to the front of the class, “quiet now students, the conversing period has come to a pause.” Entwining her fingers, cupping below the waistline of her dress, Magnus waited silently (with peering eyes) until every little voice was quiet. “Ah, now that is what I like to hear: the soft buzzing of a faerie’s wing, the stout snorts of a sleeping bogart, the deep breaths of a student who has forgotten their book.” Eyes peered down on a dear Slytherin, hidden in the back of the immense room. Waving her hand to the side of the class, “you shall find a copy atop the shelf, beside the window.” Allowing the students’ time to retrieve their materials, Helen stood beside the chest with a smile, ever so delighted. The rummaging came to a stop and all eyes met their Professor’s delighted gaze. “Today, my dears, we shall learn one of the most crucial spells any young witch or wizard should know – the Patronus Charm.”
