Physical Description:
Furc Desc: The best word to describe Myfina’s appearance would be average. Both her height and weight were normal for her age, and even her body frame fell under that. Her wavy light blonde hair reaches down to the middle of her back whilst the fringe only reaches to her mouth line. The style she wears it in depends on the day, but what doesn’t change is the round face, snub nose, and bright green eyes it frames. Her disposition usually stays cheery to boot. As expected her usual attire is the typical Hogwarts uniform with jumper and everything else save for the pointy hat. The house colors show that she is in Hufflepuff as one might have guessed.
Expanded: Myfina’s physical appearance didn’t have anything out of the ordinary. Her height of 5ft ⅔in and weight of 117lbs is hardly anything out of the ordinary for a 13-year-old girl with a medium frame. Not even her rounded face, bright green eyes, snub nose, or any other facial features she had was anything extraordinary. Her wavy light blonde hair follows suit with this, but she pays it no mind. Her bangs reach down to her mouth line whilst her hair reaches down to the middle of her back. However her hair never stays down for more than a day if even that. She enjoys putting her hair up in various different styles. Pigtails, ponytails, braids, and buns both in high and low styles are just a few. She also uses hair clips, ribbons, scrunchies, and such when the time calls for it, but almost never at the same time.
Her attire strongly depends if there is class that day and how much time there is after class. If there is class, or if there isn’t enough time after class, she just wears the usual Hogwarts uniform for Hufflepuffs. This includes the jumper, but the pointy hat is left out for reasons she finds obvious. If she wore the hat her hairstyle options would be limited. Even for her casual attire she rarely uses hats if at all. Most hats generally don’t match her style of dresses, skirts, and other girly things. The clothing itself is hardly top of the line seeing how her family is pretty poor, but she does manage to pick up some nice looking non-grungy clothing from the thrift stores. As such her outfits do look a bit dated at times.
Personality Outline:
The first thing people can notice without speaking to Myfina is that she’s almost always in a good mood, or at least looks the part. Her actual personality isn’t too far off the mark either. She’s usually kind and considerate to people. Comforting people when they’re down, trying to help out whenever she can, standing up for others, and so on are just a few of the things. The downside is this very thing can also be her downfall. Her general outlook on things also means she’s a pacifist and tries to avoid violence at all costs. She views violence as a last resort type thing and only uses it when there is no other choice. As such her offense based spells are lacking compared to the others. Sadly this means even when she does fight back there’s an insanely high chance of failure if things haven’t gotten out of hand yet. However if they have even that slim chance is gone.
That being said not everything is happy rainbows and sunshine for her. For someone so cheery she’s very strong willed. This is both good and bad. While it does mean she’s unlikely to waiver it also means that the issues she deems as important tend to get quite the reaction if the person is persistent enough. Unfortunately for whoever gets on her bad side she’s also quite the grudge holder. Unless the person proves they changed she doesn’t bother with them. However that’s as far as her flaws while socializing with others goes. Granted she’s still a scatterbrain at times, has a hard time memorizing dates, and tends to do things on a whim.
Although how she acts is a big part of her personality it isn’t anywhere near complete without her hobbies and skills. Even before she came to Hogwarts a few of her main hobbies were established. The earliest of which would be the adoration of animals and wanting to take care of them, but this is closely followed by watching sports she finds interesting. That sense of adventure is ever present as well in her good sense of direction. Videogames also became a major point for her as she got older. Flying even became one after learning how to, and her sweet tooth never faded with age. Divination and Charms eventually grabbed her interest as well, but she still has a long way to go with those. With all of that said it’s safe to say her biggest like is the collection and wearing of girly things. This one can even be seen by her appearance most of the time. However one of her biggest dislikes is others causing lack of self confidence and/or others doing things out of it. In her opinion if one does this they aren’t being true to themselves.
Background
Mother: Cathrin Brenna Moss, 42, Florist
Father: She never knew her father. Her parents got divorced before she was born.
Siblings: Nia Seren Moss, 18, Pest Advisory Board at the Ministry (Entry Level. She will try to switch to the being division after gaining more experience and ties.)
Grandmother: Aerona Tesni Moss née Banes, 67, Retired.
Grandfather: Mervin Rees Moss, 73, Retired.
Country of Origin: Newborough, Anglesey, Wales
Heritage: Muggle Born
History:
Before Myfina was even in the earliest stages her mother and father were happily married for about five years with little Nia only four years old. They didn’t have that much money, but they had enough to avoid thrift stores and have common household items. It wasn’t until her mother revealed to her father that she was expecting that the issues started arising. At first he viewed it neutrally, but after crunching some numbers and realizing what they would have to give up to support another child he tried to urge Cathrin to get an abortion. This argument didn’t go over very well. Unbeknownst to him Cathrin was a pro-life supporter and wouldn’t have been able to do anything like that even in her wildest nightmares. As such their arguments kept getting worse and worse. Pretty soon the marriage crumbled altogether, her mother gained custody of Nia, and they moved to the inexpensive town of Newborough. This town was chosen because Cathrin’s parents lived there. It made searching for a free babysitter easy since they both were retired. Seeing how the income was just halved they needed as much help as they could get.
Her early life wasn’t anything special. She tended to follow her sister around everywhere until she made friends of her own, and when that happened Nia started watching over them like a hawk. Her sister’s overprotective tendencies were a main staple in her childhood. As was the lack of the latest toys other children use to go on and on about. Neither Nia nor Myfina cared about that though. The town they lived in had a beach, a wildlife preserve, ruins, and even an island. Supervised exploring was more fun to them. This wasn’t to say they didn’t have toys though. Their toys, much like their clothing, were either cheap knockoffs or came from a thrift store. They still played with them, but they were much less durable. Besides by spending more time outside little Myfina could do what became a bad habit for quite a bit. She tried to bring stray or wild animals home to keep. The idea was always rejected and she had to release the animals where she found them, but that didn’t stop her in the least.
All of this changed when Nia got her letter to Hogwarts. Myfina was asleep for the discussion itself, but from the following discussions she understood one thing very well. Her sister was leaving. With her only being 6 at the time anyone going anywhere without her seemed like a federal offense, and with the fact that the two of them did almost everything together it didn’t sit well at all. This was when the first traces of magic in her made itself known. At first it started with articles of her sister’s clothing vanishing to random spots around the house, then the suitcases, the directions to get to the station, and so on. There was even a case of the car breaking down while her mother and sister tried to leave on the trip to London to get supplies. Lucky for them they were still at her grandparents’ house so the issue was solved fairly quickly. None of them thought much of it since hiding things was something Myfina could’ve done even without magic and their car wasn’t exactly a reliable model. Although she did get left behind for the first trip to Diagon Alley her sister made up for it by spending time with her until it was time to leave for Hogwarts, but most of that time was spent calming her down. The calming was done mainly by promising to write every day, pointing out they still had vacation time to spend together, and that it wouldn’t be long before Myfina got a letter too. Granted the last one was a flat out lie since her sister had no idea it would happen, but it did its job and managed to calm her down enough. Nia’s things stopped vanishing and the family, grandparents included, made the trip up to London to see the train off.
The time of separation between the sisters was a good thing. Nia became more social and Myfina’s dependence on her sister dropped to a normal level. As the years passed she started to become self-reliant. They still spent time together when they could, but they weren’t completely tied to it. They each had their own circle of friends, their own hobbies, and so on. It was around this time that Myfina had taken a liking to arcades. She did look a bit out of place with her clothing choices, but she didn’t quite care. What was fun as fun and she liked what she liked.
Around the time she turned nine the guilt of an empty promise was digging away at Nia. Because of this she started saving up her money to try to get Myfina something she always wanted; an animal. Without so much as a word Nia began doing minor jobs such as lawn mowing, babysitting, and such whenever she was home to try to raise money. Once the holidays rolled around she finally had enough to buy one. On the morning on Myfina’s tenth birthday she took her down to the shelter and told her she could pick out whatever animal she wanted. Whilst looking around she found a white British Longhair with heterochromia. More specifically its left eye was blue eye and the other was brown. After being set on this specific cat they found out why it was left there. Apparently the cat couldn’t hear anything with its left ear. However this didn’t change Myfina’s mind in the least. After a minor squabble with her sister about getting a disabled cat they bought it and after being told the cat is a girl by the workers Myfina named her Eirlys.
Sometime around Myfina’s eleventh birthday her sister’s blatant lie held true. She got her acceptance letter and unlike those with summer birthdays had ample time to respond to it. However she didn’t waste any time. Seeing how it was the winter holiday break she asked to borrow her sister’s owl and had her mother write the response. After all in her normal school parents usually did the note writing so she assumed it would be the same with this. Unlike the rushing for Nia’s supplies her mother had enough time to save up money for the trip and rather than borrowing money from the grandparents. By late spring they had enough saved and made the trip. Her books, robes, and such were hand-me-downs, but everything else was new. All in all it was the pretty basic visit to Diagon Alley. However once they left and returned home the weeks felt like months and the months like years until the departure date came. Her sister kept going over how great Hogwarts was so that wasn’t helping at all. After what felt like forever they left on the trip to the station and much like before her grandparents came along to show them off.
