Personality
Likes (3+)
- Quidditch: Though he is not a total Quidditch-addict like his teammates, he is quite fond of the sport.
- Broom Craftmanship: A big interest of his, and likely something he would like to persue a career with later in life.
- Outdoors: If he had it his way, all classes would be taught outside, despite the dangers it presented to the student body in this day and age.
Dislikes (3+):
- Poor Sportsmanship: Dirty, underhanded tricks are very much frowned upon, as is a sore-loser attitude.
- Theory: He is unable to concentrate during lectures or demonstration, preferring to learn through the act of doing, not watching/listening.
- Keeping in one place: Always on the move, he doesn't tend to enjoy being cooped up or restrained
Strengths (3+):
- Agility: He is quick and has excellent hand-to-eye coordination, making for amazingly quick reactions required when passing the quaffle among his teammates.
- Muscle Memory/Bodily Kinesthetic: Barrett learns by -DOING-, not through being told 'how to', which allows him to excell in subjects such as DADA, Charms and Transfiguration.
- Protective Charms: Whether it is due to his fierce loyalty to those he holds dear, or just sheer skill, Barrett shows quite the knack for Defensive spellwork.
Weaknesses (3+):
- Being Sneaky: No matter the situation, when he does something he knows is wrong, he is always, without fail, caught.
- Rashness: Barrett often does not think his actions through, leaping before he looks, as it would be.
- Clumsiness: Despite his usual grace on a broom, when grounded, Barrett displays an occassional clumsiness that is almost comical.
Character Description:Typical Gryffindor Quidditch player - that is exactly what Barrett was. Though somewhat shorter than most of his teammates, the 5th year still had the good looks and skill that seemed to define the team. Easy going, he often presented his style in a slightly relaxed way; shirt untucked, tie loose around his collar, and robes were usually nowhere to be seen. Barrett was friendly enough, though somewhat clumsy and prone to rash decisions. Still, above all, he was defined by his unwavering loyalty and endless courage, which had earned him the privilege to wear red and gold with pride.
Personality Outline: Barrett is a person who is always on the go. Though generally easy to get along with, very few are lucky enough to actually be considered friends. Those who are will find a young man who is fiercely loyal, and protective beyond belief, though his morals may be conflicted at time. Though he often tries to do good, it is not uncommon for Barrett to find himself digging his own grave, and occassionally some for his friends as well. Still, he is always there to get them out again. Like most Gryffindors, he is adventurous with unwavering courage, and a sense of duty that must always be upheld... well, almost always.

History: Barrett's family was by no means well-off, but it was well-enough. Growing up with two parents who worked so often usually meant it was just Barrett and his sister, with the occassional sitter. So he was the first to notice the strange occurrances that often took place in his little sister's presence.
Things started going weird when she was three. Unwanted veggies would suddenly go missing, toys long broken would be miraculously fixed. When he tried to inform his parents, they simply shrugged it off as a child's wild imagination. All of these strange things seemed to be only occurring with his sister, Barrett himself showing no signs of these gifts - that is, until he was ten.
He had been outside playing with friends when they had decided to go adventuring in some nearby caves. During some point of their spelunking, the boys had been taken by surprise by a sudden cave-in, which had trapped Barrett alone in the cave. It had taken a week of tunnelling before rescue teams had made it through the rubble, only to find the cave tunnels empty. The worst had been assumed, though there was no explanation for the lack of a body.
On the eighth day after the cave-in, a report that a boy had been found about 50 miles west, matching the description of Barrett. His family arrived to find their son scared and exhausted, but otherwise unharmed. They were baffled by the appearance, and how he got there, as there was only one real entrance to the cave, which had been searched over and over again. The reasoning for his escape was destined to remain a mystery - until a letter arrived with a Hogwarts official, announcing his acceptance into a school for very gifted people.
It took a fair amount of convincing before his parents accepted the information as more than just a crazy-man's ranting, and the very next fall he found himself being sorted into Gryffindor. Eventually his sister would join him at Hogwarts, and in his third year, he proved himself to be a very adequate Chaser. What would this year bring, then?
