Name: Melchiorre
Gender: male persona, enchanted object
Size: 4’ shoulder, 5’8” length
Weight: 2.5 tons
Magical Properties: Possessing no command over magic himself, he has been enchanted with several abilities, the most obvious being ‘alive.’ Additionally, his stone body is reinforced to non-magical destruction, and many lower-level attacks that might shatter a common stone with ease.
Description: A centuries old figure, carved and smoothed in stone. Where once a magnificent pair of wings stretched are now cracked and broken stubs, though many large cracks and chips adorn his figure, he’s lucky to have remained mostly solid through his life. Patches of moss grow here and there, after many years spent waiting patiently in the garden, and the occasional vine will twist itself around his legs and neck. With careful, reserved movements, he may sometimes startle other from very still sitting, and stony eyes that offer little indication of movement. His texture is smooth but not without the almost sandy texture of rock that makes up his body. Often, a trickle of water will dribble from his mouth, gushing when the weather is hard.
Personality: Quiet, to say the least. He is fairly straightforward in his speech, but often more careful in sharing opinions, they are largely undeveloped due to the fairly limited experience of his existence. His loyalty to Hogwarts is unwavering, and looking after the school is a large motive in most of his operations, but he also has a strong appreciation for music, though he hasn’t had the chance to listen to it much. A conversation is generally welcome, though his reserved manner can make it difficult, and his face can be difficult to read with only subtle changes discernible.
History: Along with 20 or so of Hogwarts gargoyles, Melchiorre was part of a gift from The Academy Scogliere to Hogwarts in the late 1700s. They’d been commissioned from a small Italian town, an example of the skill found from craftsmen in the Mediterranean. They’d been enchanted several times over the centuries, finally seeing their most usage in the Battle for Hogwarts. The work performed on the professors was exemplary, and many of the old guardians were destroyed in the battle. Melchiorre himself lost both wings to powerful spells, and fought long to the end. As with many of the gargoyle he returned to his position in the garden, peacefully forgotten in the overgrown wild that spilled out from the forest.
