It was probably an hour past curfew, and the halls of Hogwarts were dark. Rodger followed Blaine out of the Great Hall, checking his shoes to make sure they were clean, he didn't want to leave any tracks, it would compromise the entire plan. He didn't want to ruin something he'd worked so hard on for three weeks. As he stopped to shut the door he took one last look over his and Blaine's handiwork.
The great hall was only a vestige of what it normally looked like. It appeared as though someone had taken the muggle game Candyland and brought it to life. All of the tables were composed of peanut brittle and graham cracker. The stools and chairs were various candies, from gum-drop to pepperment. The grand windows had become lollipop stained glass. Candy of every sort and size was now floating around the great hall, having once been candles.
Across from the door, the staff table had been transfigured into the most beautiful of things. Each chair was some sort of candy animal, he had a wicked smile at the absurdly plush and adorable gummy bear that was professor Thanasis' chair. His greatest achievment that night, though, was the skylight. Rodger had put a great deal of effort into overriding the enchantment with one of his own, and now the sky shone like vanilla pudding, with bright pink cotton-candy clouds and plenty of frolicking rainbows.
As he stepped back, he admired the floor composed of a chocolate bar covered in more molten chocolate. The liquid candy was at least an inch thick on the floor. Finally he gazed to the other side of the Great Hall doorway, on the outside it looked just as new, but on the other side, it had become a giant s'more, dripping and oozing chocolate and marshmallow on anyone and everyone who passed through its portal.
Rodger grinned as he shut the door, him and Blaine had cast all number of protection charms to make it as difficult as possible for the staff to dispel, and he had the house elves on their side. They had sworn to him-between fits of giggles at the prospect of his prank-that they would serve breakfast only in the Great Hall, and would work to maintain their work as long as possible. It was his Magnum opus. His greatest prank... for now...
