Here at Hogwarts, we offer a thorough education of many branches of magic to allow our fine students to have successful careers after graduation. However, even with our most comprehensive of lessons, we cannot offer a full and specialized education for each student, therfore each year we offer a wide range of elective credits to further your magical education to help you achieve what you want in your life.

-Advanced Flying Techniques-

Description: For our most avid flyers, Hogwarts is pleased to offer classes on the finer points of broomstick flight. Learn some of the most daring and perilous techniques used by quidditch masters, flight champions, and broomstick masters. Improve your broom technique and become the best flier on the team!
Note: Advanced Flying Techniques is a required course for all members of House Quidditch Teams

The study of the transmutation of the elements and the most delicate and personal manipulation of magic, Alchemy is not for the faint of heart. Your grasp of Alchemy, however, will open you up to greater understanding of the properties of magic and give you the potential to go down in history for something yet undiscovered.

Description: The past five years of History of Magic have touched upon the most notable and important events in our "modern history", but of course, magical history goes so far beyond that. In Ancient Studies, we shall focus on some of the oldest and most arcane civilizations and their histories. From the Phoenician merchant wizards to the Ancient Greek philosophers, all studies will be tackled for the most avid of history lovers.
Prerequisites: Exceeds Expectations or higher on History of Magic O.W.L., Average or higher on Ancient Runes O.W.L. is recommended, but not required.

Do note that students wishing to focus on more Arcane arts in their upperclassman studies are encouraged to take Magical Theory as it is a prerequisite for many advanced classes.

Description: One of the most advanced and complex areas of magic is spellcraft. Students will focus on the principles of magical spellweaving in all disciplines of magic, from Charms to Transfiguration and more. Spellcraft is an incredibly complex and difficult art and is reccommended only for the brightest and most creative students.

Description: Wandlore is a graceful and important art in the wizarding world. As wands are an integral tool for any witch or wizard, their creation is a lauded and highly specialized art. Only the most disciplined can craft an excellent wand, and Hogwarts' class on Wandlore is merely the beginning. Students wishing to pursue a career in wand making should seek apprenticeships after this class.
Prerequisites: Exceeds Expectations or higher on Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L.'s as well as one year in Spellcraft and Artifice classes.
