A short boy with rather a mane of red, curly hair, Arran has curious, dark grey eyes and the occasional impish grin. His skin is fairly dark with a hint of freckles besides, and he's often seen stepping on his robes, either because they're a little too long for him or because he is unused to them. He's built fairly lean, cheeks chubby.
Personality Outline:
Arran is intensely curious and active; nothing about him would imply even the possibility of a mean streak. When he gets angry, Arran tends to storm off and read -- but then, he likes to read most of the time anyway. He seems a little untrusting of strangers, though, slow to make friends, slow to approach those he doesn't know, though quick once conversation is started to ask a couple hundred rapid-fire questions. He can come off as rather naive at times, and resents the fact that he is inevitably seen this way by most people raised in wizarding families.

Arran was always a precocious child, or so his mother would claim -- his mother, who encouraged his every question and suggestion of a scientific mind so thoroughly that it would be surprising if he didn't end up at least a little as she hoped. His favourite activity was going on roller coasters and playing video games with his father for a time. However, Arran's father died when he was nine, electrocuted by a downed power line at his brother's house. Since then, Arran has grown a lot closer to his mother -- who took the news of his being a wizard fairly well, though she demands he write her often. In leaving for Hogwarts, Arran has had to leave behind several very close friends at his Muggle school, and is still a little upset about it.
