History:
Jose Raúl Batista was born on April 14, 2062, in Salamanca, Spain. One day, while his father Anacledo was tending to his aspiring Grapefruit farm in Salamanca, bad news was coming. Apparantly, his farm was not having the turnout that it was expected, and Anacledo was losing money due to it. As a result, it was set to be foreclosed, unbeknownst to Anacledo. The person sent to foreclose the farm was none other than Cora Lopez. Anacledo was distraught. His whole life savings had now gone down the drain due to this. Seeing this happen to a lot of people, Cora usually didn't relate to their troubles. But something about Anacledo piqued her interest. She felt sympathy for him, and decided that she would help him get his life back on track. Thankful, Anacledo accepted. Cora was very helpful in receiving loans and plans for Anacledo's new farm, and soon it became more of a partnership than a helping hand. Not to long afterwards, they began to develop feelings for eachother, and thus their first child, Danielle, was born. Not too long after came Jose himself.
After Cora and Anacledo settled down on their farm, something strange happened. Not long after Jose was born, both children seemed to act strange. Danielle could make plants grow haphazardly, and Jose began to float unexpectedly. Cora didn't understand what was happening, but Anacledo knew full well. As a result, he had to come clean about his sorcery powers to his wife. The only reason that his grapefruit farm had failed (as he was using spells to keep it alive) was that it was struck with a horrible blight that not even his knowledge of spells could counter. Thus was now the Sorcerer Anacledo, the Muggle Cora, and their two half-blood children, Danielle and Jose.
Although Jose was only 3 years old when this occured, he remembers it well. It was the reason that his family was forced to go into hiding. One day, while Cora was out on a stroll with Jose, she made a stop at a bank, which was an unfortunate move. Cora and Jose got wrapped up in a bank robbery. Being held hostage was unbearable, and they couldn't do a thing about it, as Cora was just a muggle and Jose knew no spells at all (not to mention they were also surrounded by various muggles). Cora got the unfortunate luck of being the 'fall-guy' in the robbers operation. The guns and part of the stolen cash were left with her as the robbers escaped, and as the police arrived, she was put into custody after being accused as an accomplice. Not soon afterwards, Anacledo posted bail for her. Anacledo then felt his family was at risk because of this, and he took his family across the sea to the United Kingdom (before the court date), where they would stay in hiding until this blew over. That's when Anacledo felt it would be safer for him to send his two children to The Wizarding School of Hogwarts when the time came. Danielle was immediately sent off, while Jose was forced to wait until he was of age.
Sure enough, once Jose was old enough to attend Witchcraft school, Anacledo shipped him off. This is where he spent his whole adolescent phase until after his graduation, where he went back to Spain to work as an accountant. Jose soon began to grow weary of this life, his only sanctuary being the night sky. Not wanting to lose his wizarding roots, he decided to apply to TWSOH for his favorite subject, Astronomy.
Teaching Example: (As with his 1st Year Class): Jose got up to address the class. "Clase de bien, vamos a empezar. Welcome to Astronomy 101. Allow me to cordially welcome you to our humble abode, the Wizarding School of Hogwarts. I hope to learn each and every one of your faces as the year continues, as well as what is behind it. Let me start our class off with a brief explanation. Astronomy is a wondrous subject, full of excitement and pleasantness. You will be experiencing first-hand what this feels like, for this is a 50% hands-on class. Your day here will not feel like much, but I will make sure to jam-pack your brains with the knowledge you need to carry on with assignments and tests. After my lessons, I feel that students need some time to unwind, which is why I include a free half-hour of 'stargazing' time in my class. You will be able to use your telescopes that you personally purchased from Diagon Alley to enlist as your partner for this task. Now then, any preguntars about this class?" Jose pans the room for any hands that might appear...
Example Lesson Plan:
