Character Description:
A scrawny little pale creature that looked very much like a gargoyle in the face then a person. Gaunt face showed a bit of malnourishment and lean stick body hardly more then a skeleton. School robes seemed like a heavy burden for the creature to carry, always having it buttoned up tightly rather then open. Around his neck hung a hemp necklace with an amulet that seemed like a small burlap doll stuffed with straw and hay. Black short, but stringy hair often was uncombed and in a mess, kept under control by an over sized top hat. Peculiarly, this left eyebrow and eyelashes were totally white. At his side was a worn cloth green satchel to carry his books and school supplies.
Personality/Beliefs Outline:
Leon found himself in Hogwarts by circumstance of his stay in the U.K. He was raised by Voodoo Practitioners and strongly believes in their way of magic practice and the roots of all magic being in spirits. He is a shut-in that is use to isolation from people deep in mosquito and alligator infested swamp lands. As such, he doesn't think much of anything that is beyond a hermit's life style. He has little to no opinion on politics, social interactions, or anything of the sort. His opinions and beliefs are rooted more strongly in magic practice and good food.
Background
*Leon's blood family is unknown. Listed is adopted family.
Mother:
( Sarah McDuffin , 24, Stay at home mom )
Father:
( Hector McDuffin , 29, Fisherman )
Siblings:
( Tonya McDuffin , 13, None )
Country of Origin:
U.S.A.
Heritage:
Muggle*
*Uncertain, but most probably.
History:
Leon's existence is beyond curious. His blood father and mother are simply unknown. What is known is he turned up in the hands of Dr. Fantôme, who claimed to have found the boy, a toddler not even a year of age, abandoned in the bayou to be left as gator bait. The truth of this was highly speculated and Dr. Fantôme would go through life often accused of robbing Leon from a crib. Whatever the case, it hardly mattered when the Voodoo Priestess 'Granny Ghoul', a decrepit and blind old woman, decided to take the boy in as her own child. Of course, Granny Ghoul could barely care for herself, the actual care taking fell into the hands of Dr. Fantôme, which he was overly glad to accept. Still, Granny Ghoul's presence in the boy's life meant she would be able to see to it he was at least taught basic math and sciences. Dr. Fantôme, however, was more then please to teach Leon reading, and the secret arts of Voodoo.
Leon grew up in a life style that may as well have been homeless. He often drifted with Dr. Fantôme, performing tricks and reading palms to unsuspecting muggles for coin. The secluded Voodoo witches and wizards were not particularly inclined to any organization or society, much less a formal school, save for protection and respect to elders. This means they were gypsies, rogues, and free men interested only in a good meal and their practice. Dr. Fantôme saw that little Leon was taught in the black arts of Voodoo and knew how to communicate with the evil spirits and deal with the 'paranormal' of this world, though Leon rarely witnessed these things first hand, and the wizarding world was quick to rule such things out. Eventually Dr. Fantôme entrusted his grimoire into the hands of Leon, but Leon did not know exactly as to why or what for. He was turned over to Granny Ghoul then, somewhere around the age of 8. Without explanation, he would never see or hear of Dr. Fantôme afterward.
A year later, Granny Ghoul claimed to have had a vision in her sleep and that the spirit compelled her to see that Leon was expelled from her home and sent to London. After sharing the vision with Leon, he scoffed at her. After beating the boy, he found himself as a stow-away on a boat to England. Inevitably he was caught by the crew and upon being turned over to the embassy, no one was quite sure what to do with him. Regulation said send him back to the U.S., but no one knew who he was, not even the boy. A kindly Northern Irish couple who had moved to London found themselves at odds of infertility and unable to have children of their own adopted Leon (after a drawn out legal battle) and introduced him to his new sister, Tonya (also adopted). It didn't take long before the couple began to regret adopting the child, as he was generally creepy and anti-social. When he received the letter from Hogwarts, at first everyone thought it was joke, Leon included. After they were informed it was no joke, however, the Irish couple was almost too happy to see him off to the train station.
*Forgive the post's short comings. It's currently 2 in the morning here and my writing talent is not at its peek. ^^;
