CURRENT YEAR: 2050
The year is 2045. Voldemort has been deceased for over fifty years, and all known traces of the Death Eaters and the war have long since gone dry. The years, up until several years ago, had been fairly peaceful for the wizarding world, with the exception of the occasional renegade who needed a good long trip to Azkaban.
All had been well.
Then things started to happen. At first, it didn't seem like anything that needed to be worried about. Probably just a couple of renegades, or a few wizards messing around with the wrong kind of magic'. The first hint was the increasing levels of muggle disappearances, and murders.
It was only in North America when it started in 2030, but the killings quickly spread to South America Asia , Africa, The Middle East and finally, in recent months, throughout Europe; only Australia, Antarctica and Greenland, remain safe. The muggle world is currently in high-security havoc, and though the wizards are aware that something fishy is going on, many are still entirely in the dark about the current happenings.
However, some have become privy to the truth, whether by word of mouth or by meeting a member themselves - there is a new cult in town. It has been slowly developing for the past decade. Though the exact name of the group and its member list - which is certainly long - as well as their 'purpose' is thus far unknown, it can be assumed that it has something to do with ridding the planet of those 'muggle parasites'.
Unfortunately, though no 'weather attack' has struck a wizard-only community, several of the larger areas infested with both wizards and muggles have been hit, causing casualties to both. Terror levels are escalating, and with no idea what is going on, wizards are beginning to turn on one another.
Occasionally, a cult member will be captured and brought into the ministry, but so far only two of several dozen have been convicted of any sort of crime against wizard and human kind. Is the Ministry of Magic in on this deal, or are the wrong people being brought for justice? With wizards who think that the slaughter of muggles is a good idea, neutral parties, and those strongly against it, no one really knows who's on the 'right side'. Or what side will 'win'.
