Physical Description:
Sort of tall, he thinks a few more inches wouldn't hurt. An okay physical fitness, he wouldn't say he was in peak condition or anything. His school robes look kept and clean, his supply bag orderly and proper. One doesn't get anywhere by being a disorganized buffoon after all. His hair is cut short so he doesn't have to add that to his list for things to worry about. His eyes are the only giveaway that his mind is the least organized thing about him. Constantly wandering and going into a dazed looking stare. His mouth makes odd movements as if holding back some bit of dialogue that is going through his brain. Without his outward organization his inner self wouldn't stand a chance.
Personality Outline:
Likes things in order, possibly an OCD issue. Though he has yet to master the art of keeping his mind on track. He can be alert and aware all he likes, he just has to fight off a wandering and naturally inquiring mind. He sees a problem and wants to solve it, sitting on the sidelines isn't his nature. Unfortunately all that 'doing' brings attention his way, something he could do without. A person of extroverted hobbies with an introverted mind, he is in paradox with himself.

Born in England, the son of a magical father and muggle mother. He lived in two different worlds, growing up with magical and mundane surroundings. The former being the one he very much preferred. Fascinated with the magical world, he studied its creatures and plants, trying to find what made them be seen as 'magical' to begin with. He could get lost in pondering the meaning of it all.
When Ian was young his father abandoned his wizardly profession and became a tavern owner, as to make life a easier for his wife. Ian was forced to abandon his novice studies of the supernatural in the woods behind his old home, his father thinking an urban setting was more suitable for a business. By the time he got to Hogwarts Ian had enough of the muggle world to last a long while. Magic was so much more intriguing, with so much to do how would you ever be bored?
