Character Description:
An auburn-haired seventeen year-old beams up at you confidently. His green eyes peer deeply into yours, as though challenging you try and find fault with his welcoming personality. He stands at six feet and has a strong, athletic build that suggests years of rigorous, physical activity. Despite the strong and outward ambiance surrounding this young man, however, there is something positively inviting about him.
Personality Outline:
The blossoming winds of the springtime have a tendency to produce some of the most energetic babies born year-round. The firstborn child of Robert Leongrove and Selena Vane was destined to stand out from the crowd. From his father, some wizards see peculiarity. From his mother, some think him obnoxious. Those who recognize the truly enthusiastic spirit within find Marshall Leongrove to be grade A entertainment. The young, adventurous Gryffindor has always aspired to be the embodiment of what his Hogwarts founder would have wanted in his students. Years of upbringing through legends of courage and nobility left the Leongrove son transfixed with the desire to be just like the heroic wizards on the dusty pages.
To make a dish like Marshall, one should always start with a generous helping of adventurousness. Life without a little spontaneity is not life at all, in this Gryffindor’s eyes. Marshall will often go out of his way to take a different route to class, or travel a seldom-ventured path, all for the sake of “what could be.” For this reason he’s often found patrolling some of the most peculiar parts of the castle with an unquenchable curiosity. “Hogwarts has so many secrets,” he frequently announces, “and I want to find them all!”
If there’s a cause to fight for, Marshall loves to jump on board. No matter how lost or forgotten an issue may be, this Gryffindor has an argumentative spirit that can be as much of a hindrance as it is a motivation. Accompanied with an impulsiveness Godric Gryffindor himself would find rash, Marshall can be something of a short fuse when provoked. At the same time, it would be neglectful to ignore the number of students spared from swirlies and black eyes if it were not for that same, hasty nature.
Marshall has the tendency to befriend even the minimalists of the social jungle they call Hogwarts. He loves getting to know new people, and building on foundations with those he already knows. Whether for his argumentative spirit, his friendly demeanor, or his unceasing sense of humor, Marshall is particularly well known in the scarlet and gold common room. Needless to say, this domineering social ability can make the Leongrove son rather bossy, and he’ll often butt heads with other natural leaders.
Overall, Marshall Leongrove has a very large thirst to prove himself. Growing up and getting to know his parents for who they truly are showed Marshall how the wizarding world perceived his family. He even pities their faults, and strives each day within those castle walls to make the Leongrove name one that wizards will associate with strength, chivalry, and above all, courage.
Background
Mother: Selena Leongrove, 46, Gossip Columnist for the Daily Prophet
Father: Robert Leongrove, 49, Professional Quidditch Coach
Siblings: N.A.
Country of Origin: England
Heritage: Pureblood
History:
Most people used to look upon the Leongrove parents with disdain, pity, or a wickedly condescending attitude. They saw nothing beyond the arrogance, or the obsessive behaviors, or passionate endeavors, and learned to tolerate the two. When Robert and Selena married, no one was surprised. Most attendees at their wedding came for the elaborate party favors offered. Their true friends were minimal, and that was how they had forged their lives from the moment they set foot into Hogwarts.
Robert found himself a short-lived career in the Professional Quidditch Leagues, stopped quickly by a cursed bludger intended for someone else. The bludger put one of his legs out of commission, rendering Robert virtually useless in the wizarding world. He resolved to start coaching in the minor league. Though his players seldom understand the quiet disdain he seems to carry for them.
Selena tried her hand at modeling, making full use of her beauty while she still had it. Once motherhood set in, however, Selena let the effects of age take hold and steer her into homemaking. She was a moderate mother, always attending to child, but she lacked the warmth and nurturing affection a good parent needs. She took a special interest in a mediocre writing skill she’d developed in her youth and decided to utilize it to discuss the private lives of the wizarding world’s hottest celebrities. Marshall found a way to live adventurously through the wonderful stories his father would read him each night before bed. They were stories of chivalrous wizards and strong-willed maidens, uniting under even the direst circumstances. To Marshall, these characters became the parents he never had, and the heroes he would forever aspire to become.
When Marshall arrived at Hogwarts, he was dead-set on one thing: making more of his life than his parents had. He wanted to help wizards in the world – to make the grandest difference he possibly could. The prejudices of his peers were relentless. Many referred to him as the “heir of the duffers.” Marshall knew he was meant for more – the sorting hat must have recognized this also, as it whispered him a wish of luck and sorted him into Gryffindor.
Over the years, Marshall has built up the name of Leongrove to mean so much more. Many Hogwartians know of Marshall (as well as his many antics). The young wizard now looks forward to a promising career in Magical Law Enforcement, as well as a life surrounded by family and friends who care the world about him.
