Despite her strong sense of determination, she is also very self-assured, and isn't very prone to issues with body image or self-doubt, at least, not more than any other teenage girl. History: A year before her birth, Koichi Takasi was told he'd be the new Potions Company Executive working overseas. It was an exciting opportunity for him, so Akiko applied to be a healer in the big city of London. Not soon after moving, Akiko took a maternity break and put her life on hold to take care of the little, bouncing, baby Mizuka, their first and only child.
After staying at home with Mizuka for the first year of her life, Akiko soon went back to work as a healer, and Koichi was far too busy to spend time with her during the day. This is where living as Japanese Ambassadors had its perks. They were given a large house, eventually buying it as they realized their move was permanent. Between a Healer and a big-name executive, however, they took frequent trips back to Japan, to visit friends and family, namely Mizuka's cousins, uncles and aunts. After several years, Mizuka's grandmother came to live in England with Koichi, as he was the eldest son, shortly after Mizuka's grandfather's death. This gave Mizuka not only a new responsibility, but a new babysitter. The old woman, who spoke very little English, would often watch over Mizuka while her parents were at work, keeping track of her neighborhood friends.
The time finally came for Mizuka to attend her first year of wizarding school. Naturally, as both a pureblood and a young Englishwoman, her letter to Hogwarts arrived promptly in the Takasi mailbox. For her first few years, she was shy, just settling into the world around her. It wasn't until later, between her visits to Japan over the summer and her experiences at Hogwarts that she truly made a name for herself. Pretty, smart, but most importantly, very determined. This little ray of sun spent her days in the library, or out with friends, and very rarely in between.
