Laura is unsure of why she has a keen dislike for charms, but it most likely has to do with the teacher.

Laura views the muggle world as constrictive, and thus deems this knowledge unnecessary.
Personality
Likes
-Knowledge
She doesn't just like it, she craves it. Be it through experience, reading books, etc., she's willing to respect anyone who knows what they're talking about and is not against sharing.
-Her Cat, Carl
Her dearly beloved cat since she was a young girl. His personality and soft pelt keep her happy and uplifted, especially when he sleeps, curled up beside her each night.
-Dueling
Quite surprisingly, at least from a quiet girl, she enjoys dueling and becoming more adept and powerful at magic. Books and the like keep her entertained, but not for long.
-Lessons/Classes
A knowledge-hungry girl is always willing and enjoying class time, except for a select few.
-Friends
Like every person out there, she enjoys making friends, whether it be across houses or not.
-Instruments, Primarily The Violin/Arts
Laura has played the violin for as long as Carl has been around, thus she has a love for the arts and music.
Dislikes:
-Spiders
Creepy, crawly; in short, disgusting.
-Being Outdone
Like any little Ravenclaw student, she aims to be the top, and you don't do that by getting second place.
-Receiving Less Than An "O"
Intelligent, hard-working people don't get an "E"
Skills:
-Intelligent
Laura has a high I.Q. and is open to almost all things. Her intelligence allows her to understand things clearer and follow orders more accurately.
-Beautiful
She certainly is an attractive girl and will certainly grow up into a beautiful adult.
-Ambitious
She's willing to do anything she can to gain power, intelligence, and some social standing.
-Curious
She tends to explore things that fascinate her, doing anything possible to satisfy her hunger for knowledge of the subject.
-Natural/Gifted
Magic has been in her bloodline for generations, thus it comes naturally to her.
Weaknesses:
-Ambitious
Willing to do anything for power, intelligence, and social standing, some people may be left behind on the "Laura Express".
-Curious
Being naturally curious, she may find herself in heaps of trouble should she go venturing in places she shouldn't.
-Over Protective
She fears losing her things, through theft or misplacing them, and thus keeps them close, especially her darling Carl. She gets especially cranky when people are handling her things.
-Must Eat
Not eating can lead to her becoming particularly belligerent and argumentative, even with those of authority.
-Her Wand
Typical to the Hornbeam/Ironwood material used to craft her wand, it is stubborn at sometimes. She is constantly attempting to form a "bridge" between herself and it so that she may master it and become one with it. She will practice continuously until she perfects anything, even if it is against her wand's will.
Character Description:
Luscious, straight brown hair fell to her shoulders with a slight twist at the ends, blocking in her slightly tanned face and applying more focus unto it. Her nose had a smooth bridge, her lips an apple red, and those eyes an ocean blue; all mixing together to create the beauty that she was. Limbs were lanky and long, covered with lean muscle and hinting to the fact that she was a sprinter. Fingers were long, and usually carried a book or her wand, of which she obsessed over constantly. Knowledge was the key to success in her eye, and the natural appreciation for all things intelligent was embedded within her soul. Usually accompanied by her cat about the castle, the duo were prepared to make their mark upon the famous, hallowed halls of Hogwarts school.
Personality/Beliefs Outline:
Always the charmer and smooth talker, Laura was quite an adventurous and mischievous young girl. Naturally adept at the arts, both magical and instrumental, she found comfort in reading a book or finding a small cluster of friends to relax with. This young girl was not a social butterfly and preferred to keep her mouth shut and listen when surrounded in a large group, unsure of what to say or do in the proper situation. Like any anti-social person, she found solace and "haven" in jamming her face in a book with her tom cat, Carl, and petting him thoroughly. The two were bonded, and it was not uncommon for the quite lonely little girl to talk to him constantly as she thought out problems and solutions. Always practicing her magic, and aiming to please her teachers, she is constantly striving to achieve greatness and become apart of the wizard-world elite.

History:
Laura's history begins before her birth:
The proud McClain Clan, originally from Ireland, migrated to Great Britain in the 12th century prior to it being invaded, and ultimately taken over, by the British. The Clan's patriarch had used the skills of divination to look into the future of his family, and only saw the destruction of Ireland's most notable families. Fearing that his Clan's future would also find itself in the same fate, they migrated to the heartland of the countryside of Britain, finding refuge there for many centuries.
After some time, of course, the family of nobility had finally become a popular "Clan" (of sorts) among the British population, and they were well regarded merchants and wealthy nobles. They kept to themselves, primarily, but would throw the occasional party just to ensure no suspicious person would dig up their Clan's origin, thus exposing them and certainly bringing them to disgrace. Maids were never hired, butlers never served; their magic kept them happy, and they were always content.
Centuries later, the young heir of the Clan's legacy, John McClain, met a young witch at Hogwarts named Carolyn Latrae. She was a French beauty, who kept him spellbound, and would commonly use his natural abilities in the arts and magic to captivate her. It was hard, tiring work, but he eventually got his French beauty to love him back. They were married soon after both of them completed school and found work at St. Mungo's, and not long after that, Laura was born.
She was a naturally curious child who was raised in an environment filled with magic. She grew up knowing that she, herself, would be apart of the magical elite by birth, yet wanted to show that she truly deserved her legacy and heritage. Even without a wand, she would practice; she ran with the other McClain branch children, playing and laughing as they all used their magic to play games. They weren't very good, seeing as they were children and untrained, but at least they had a basic in the beauty of it. Each child, even those on the branches, were taught how to play instruments. Laura found her love for the violin this way, and even coaxed her cat, Carl, forth from the wild with it (and some food). The two were pals, always with one another and relaxing. She would certainly bring him to Hogwarts every year she went.
The first year of her enrollment flew by; so many hexes and charms were learned and practiced daily by her, always returning to receive some affection from her loyal companion. Practical jokes were common from her; the occasional spell was used to drop a bucket filled with lavatory water upon a nearby student's head, or she'd place an enlarged spider in a person's bed. All in all, it was a glorious time where she began to set up her goals and dreams. Now, with the coming second year of her enrollment, who knows can be expected from her?
