Character Description:
Standing at just above five feet, not much could be said about her physical attributes at first glance. Dark skin, auburn hair, and a pair of fairly pretty eyes made her worth noticing, but nothing more. She looked young, perhaps fifteen at the most, and yet possessed a quiet demeanor and a vigilant gaze that sometimes caused confusion over her exact age. She was dressed quite simply, as if she did not want to stand out the least bit.
Personality/Beliefs Outline:
Although solitude appeals to her, Sophie will tend to stick with a friend or two, just to avoid having to walk to class or eat lunch alone. She is extremely quiet when around large groups of people, and keeps her thoughts and opinions to herself. Being asked personal questions irritates her, for she sees it as trying to "get into her head", a place she guards constantly. To be quite honest, many personality traits she possesses would indicate that Slytherin would be the correct house for her. She has a deceptive nature beneath the surface, yet the fact the she does not act on her devious impulses sets her apart from them. When the sorting hat was debating on which of the houses matched her better, she simply asked it to place her in Hufflepuff, and it complied, seeing as how she wasn't very brave, didn't concoct good enough strategies to be called cunning, and flat out refused to be in Ravenclaw because she found the colour blue to be disagreeable. As a pureblood, she was raised to be proud of her heritage, but has never been influenced to think poorly of anyone with Muggle blood. Her strictly magical upbringing sparked a fascination with Muggles, from their technology to their literature, and even the workings of their toys.
Background
Mother: Catherine Merricks, 43, Housewife
Father: Rupert Merricks, 47, Historian
Siblings: Bonnie Lasseter(married), 22, unemployed
Country of Origin: England
Heritage: Pureblood
History:
Sophie was born into a very well off family. Money was hardly ever an issue, with the exception of the time her parents had a spat, resulting in her mother nearly emptying the entire vault in Gringott's. (All purchases were returned, and Rupert transported a great deal of the gold into another, secret vault.)
She was never very close with her sister, who was seen as an unbearable tyrant from an early age. Being younger was a great burden, for she was an easy target, and if anything went wrong, the blame was on her. This has a major role in her aloof attitude towards others. Sophie can recall the instance where her sister locked her in a cupboard for three hours, and since then has developed an intense dislike for small spaces.
